Not necessarily, it is normal for the Doctors and other specialists to refer suspicious  and changing lesions to obtain a consultant opinion. It is only by formal biopsy that a definitive diagnosis can be obtained.

'One Stop' Day Surgery operating lists are currently held on Thursday’s and Friday’s however urgent referrals can be seen at other times if required.   

The operations take place under local anaesthetic but there can be some discomfort as this wears off. The nurses will provide a post-operative care sheet which amongst other things will advise on pain relief.

Results histolopathology are usually available within 5 days and these will be discussed with you when you have your sutures removed. A copy of the results will also be sent to your Doctor.

We have a team of consultants , both male and female, all are experts in minor surgery. However, if you wish to see a specific consultant please mention this when booking; although this may lead to a small delay in appointment.

Yes, the consultant will routinely write to your GP, unless requested not to by the patient, and any other relevant specialists, or referring doctors, for example your gynaecologist, to inform them of all consultations, investigations and their results, as well as any treatments planned or already received. Reports will be sent to any medical practitioners not based at 108 Harley Street.

We understand how anxious and sometimes embarrassed you may feel about your appointment.  Our fully trained staff aims to make your visit as relaxed and comfortable as possible. Please do not hesitate to tell the consultant or nurse if you are overly concerned. They will be pleased to answer your questions and put your mind at rest.

The costs for initial consultation will not exceed £250, second opinion will not exceed £350, and £225 to £350 for follow-up consultations. There are additional charges for any investigations or diagnostic tests. We therefore operate a “no shortfall” policy patients will only be responsible for any policy excesses or exclusions. 

Fully inclusive packages are available for patients paying for their own treatment.

Simply call 0207 563 1234, between 8am and 6pm Monday to Thursday and until 5.30pm on Fridays.  If you expect your medical insurer to pay, you will need a referral letter from a GP or other specialist.  Please bring this letter with you to your first appointment.  If you are referred from within 108 Harley Street, this process is straightforward.  You can self refer if you are paying for own treatment.

We are registered with the Care Quality Commission and subject to their audit process. Internally we are managed by a Medical Advisory Committee (MAC) who ensure that all regulatory matters are kept up to date and manage the conduct of the Consultants with admitting rights to 108 Harley Street. There are also regular multi-disciplinary team meetings that deal with both ongoing professional education and case management.

We are a Founder member of the Harley Street Alliance and have signed up to "The Ten Commitments".

No most with stitches will be removed in 7 - 10 days

You will need a dressing for the first 24-48 hours then you can leave the stitches as they are.

Yes but it will be minimal. Most scars start of quite pink and thick and then as time passes they tend to thin out and fade so in 12 months or so they are a nice white line.

You can shower after the first 24 hours.

No, not until the sutures are removed.

It depends on the site of the lesion. Generally a gentle form of cardiovascular workout is fine.

Yes, eat and drink as normal.
